South American Puffer
Remarks: South American or Amazon Puffers are unique among freshwater puffers in that they prefer to be kept in groups. They are still capable of being nippy towards slow-moving fish with long, trailing fins, or those small enough to fit in their mouths, but they are much more suited for community set-ups than most puffers. They have active personalities and are constantly zooming around the tank and "glass surfing."
Like with all puffers, South American puffers need to be able to grind their ever-growing teeth down so foods such as whole shrimp, mussels, clams, and snails should be provided regularly. The South American puffer is known to be sensitive to pollutants so frequent water changes are a must.
