B-Grade Mystery Snail

Remarks:Ā Mystery snails have been a staple part of the aquarium hobby for many years acting as great algae control. They come in many color forms and are very easy to breed. Unlike many snail species that are typically hermaphrodites, these snail are separated into male and female with the males having a second appendage beside their siphon, a structure used to get supplementary oxygen from the surface. Mystery snails lay their eggs just above the surface of the water, usually on the glass of the aquarium, in large masses that tend to look like pink styrofoam. Population control is as easy as removing any egg clusters before they hatch. As these snails lack a larval stage, they hatch out as tiny versions of the adults, ready to feast on algae and detritus.

Ā  These B-grade mystery snails have imperfections on their shells such as small chips but none are a threat to the snail's health. They most likely will eventually heal and look like any other snail.
